4-H, Chickens and Fair Days

We have been a 4-H family for 3 yrs now and raise chickens to show in the summer fair. Our oldest Emily is an intermediate in 4-H this year (turns 12 tomorrrow!) our middle daughter Shannon is still a Primary in 4-H this year, and our youngest Megan is just turning 6 in August, so she will become an official 4-H member this fall.

What a small world it is out there. When I first started blogging earlier this year, one of my first “role models” who I look up to as a successful blogger is Gayla McCord. It was so neat to find out that her boys also raise and show chickens for 4-H. The girls and I have loved reading Gayla’s posts and updates on their competitions! Please check them out at Momgadget!
Our fair is not until the end of August. We are on site at the fairgrounds for about 5 days, and it is totally exhausting! We are still in the process of gearing up, studying, working on posters, demonstrations and miscellaneous other projects the girls want to also enter into fair. Thanks for sharing Gayla, and seeing those ribbons, has instilled a new motivation in my girls!

My husband was standing behind me when I began reading your post. We LOVE the picture of the girls in the chicken coop! That’s just too adorable.
Do you all get the Poultry Press paper? The owner of that paper is the one who judged at our fair. He lives only about a 1/2 hour from us. We go to his open show every October. If you don’t get it, let me know. We’d love to send you some sample copies
Tell your girls they have to share ALL their ribbon photos with us too
