A Problogger Mom

I ran across this post today on Problogger, titled Lessons on Blogging. I think this is a great reference article for those bloggers like myself, who are just starting out.

Darren Rowse, who is the Problogger himself, references a post by John Wesley from Pick the Brain, titled 27 Lessons Learned on the Way to 3000 Visits a Day and 2200 RSS Subscribers. Darren also mentions one of his older archived posts titled 18 Lessons I’ve Learnt about Blogging.

Thanks to Supermom_in_NY and Stephen Fung, I was able to finally get my blog updated today on Technorati in 12 hrs or less. You may recall I posted just yesterday, frustrated because my blog had not been updated by Technorati in over 90 days.

It seems Technorati, may have issues with Payperpost. I removed my banner in my sidebar, and most of my Payperpost links in many of my posts as was suggested by Stephen Fung. I also sent in new pings through Iping and Pingomatic with the URL of my blog http://aprobloggermom.blogspot.com/index.html, adding the index.html at the end as Supermom_in_NY suggested.

Auction Ads has just announced this great new ability to be able to target the ads shown on your site with a seller ID instead of keywords only. This is awesome news if you are an eBay seller as well as a blogger. Makes much more sense to advertise your own auction listings than someone elses and hit two birds with one stone. If you are not an Ebay seller and wouldn’t mind using my Ebay ID of lavender-haze, I’d much appreciate it!

This is really just a small vent, but it really is rather aggravating. When I sign into Technorati, it says that my blog has not been updated in 93 days. It has not updated my Authority #, nor the list of blogs linking to me. I ping it manually when I sign in, and I also have Blogger set to automatically ping everyone when I post. I know that I am not the only one having this issue. I signed into the Technorati Help forum, and it seems LOTS and LOTS of folks are having the same ping issue, and there has been no comment made from the help staff on the forum. Does anyone have a clue?

I hope you all you mom’s out there enjoyed yesterday as much as I did. I awoke to breakfast in bed with lots of cute little gifts the girls picked out themselves plus their handmade cards. Then I was allowed to continue sleeping in after the excitement died down. We had planned on a hike with a picnic, but it was a drizzly kind of day, so we opted for the movies and dinner out instead. Wrapped up the day with the Survivor finale…..a nice lazy family day, couldn’t have asked for more!

Paula Mooney just posted her list of Paula’s List of Blogger Salaries. Of course, it lists most of the big guns out there, but it proves that it can be done and done well.

Here’s a little more inspiration, I haven’t updated John Chow’s earnings since he posted his February report. He increased his earnings from $7011.05 in Feb, to $8545.25 in March and $11,702.66 in April. What’s interesting to watch here, is that he post’s exactly where his blogging income comes from each month, so you can see where he makes the most money. Very informative.

I have to give some Kudos’s to this mom who earns money online via blogging and many other methods. She writes in lots of places, has multiple blogs and Squidoo lenses, and happily shares all her information about how she earns money online, which sites, how much, etc. She is a mom of 7!!! And she makes this work for her, she is truly an inspiration!

So far, I have been paid $136.35 from the shopping rewards site Bigcrumbs. Most of that money was earned off of the shopping done by my referrals. This site has an awesome referral system, that allows you to earn money off of your referrals shopping, for LIFE! Not just a one time measely payment like most other sites offer. I am also due to be paid an additional $24.82 on or about May 15th, which will bring my total up to $161.17.

So a kind reader named Barbara mentioned to me that I should try Auction Ads and I have just signed up for it. Thanks for the tip! It looks like a really easy way to possibly earn a buck or two from this blog. It was easy to set up, but I didn’t see a way for it to pull up my own auctions. It allows you to put in keywords and brings up items based on that. If I missed something simple and anyone does know how to make it so that it brings up your own auctions, I would love to know how!
